Description

Leadership Brainery uses innovative high-tech and high-touch programming to close wealth and opportunity gaps by addressing inequitable access to master’s and doctoral degrees and workforce leadership roles for underrepresented talent, including people of color and individuals from lower socioeconomic households. We work with prospective and current graduate students, academic institutions, employers, and committed community members to eliminate systemic barriers to education and create inclusive communities.

We are seeking a Director of Programs to lead our graduate school readiness programs. 

 

Leadership Brainery’s full-time Director of Programs is an innovator with a strong passion for working at a start-up, leading inclusive and productive teams, developing graduate school readiness programs and events, consulting prospective and current graduate students, and driving social change. We are looking for equity-minded applicants who demonstrate a keen understanding of the systemic and cultural barriers affecting marginalized communities' access to higher education, particularly master’s and doctoral degrees.


 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead Programming Office, build a team, and develop a positive and productive culture. 

  • Develop and update on-boarding processes, curriculum, and programming for LB’s 18-month Ambassador Fellowship encompassing a cohort of Boston-based college students preparing for graduate school admission.

  • Work with students to set goals for professional and personal development, standardized testing and admissions preparation, and monitor progress toward achieving those goals.

  • Conduct monthly programming and create innovative resources that support the overall well-being and growth of the cohort.

  • Foster relationships with community stakeholders to support student success and resource needs. 

  • Collaborate with fellow team members to implement evaluation strategies that measure the performance and impact of our programs. 

  • Collect data on academic performance, graduate school admission, and overall student development.

  • Manage the event coordinator, planning, and execution of Leadership Brainery’s Annual Graduate School Summit.

  • Develop and implement programming budgets.

  • Work with the LB team to create publicity and communications plans for programming.

  • Provide information and success stories to support the Development team’s fundraising efforts.

  • Engage with community stakeholders to bring awareness to Leadership Brainery’s programming.

  • Track and articulate evolving societal trends affecting educational equity, diversity and inclusion, postgraduate access, workforce leadership, nonprofit development, and other areas relevant to the work at LB.

  • Provide ideas and support for new programming and operations as needed. 


 

Necessary Requirements

 

  • A functional understanding of graduate and/or professional school application processes. 

  • A functional understanding of undergraduate or graduate scholarship application processes. 

  • Proven experience in program planning and implementation. Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of event planning, including budgeting, event design, organization, and production.

  • Proficient with technology (video conferencing, Google Suites, CRMs, etc.)

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to combine big-picture and detail-oriented thinking.

  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, and to represent LB internally and externally.

  • Experience producing online events using video conferencing and broadcast platforms.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including business and political acumen, social perceptiveness, tact, and empathy.

  • Highly developed judgment, decision-making, and prioritization skills. Self-motivated and able to work alone or with minimal supervision. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to meet time and budget constraints.

  • Ability to remain level-headed under pressure, and to improvise and troubleshoot when needed.

  • Ability to maintain a high standard of productivity despite frequent interruptions.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
