About Leadership Brainery

Leadership Brainery is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt pipeline organization closing opportunity and wealth gaps by increasing the number of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and first-generation college students being accepted and enrolled in postgraduate education programs and recruited into high-wage careers. We envision a day when competitive graduate and professional school classrooms throughout the country are enriched by an equitable representation of first-generation and underrepresented students, empowered to transform leadership in our country's workforce.

Overview

Leadership Brainery is seeking an intern to join our team in Boston from January to May 2022. We are looking for an outgoing and tech-savvy intern to increase user engagement through outreach and communications on our online platform, Dear Future Colleague. This internship is great for a graduate student committed to educational equity, and closing opportunity and wealth gaps for underserved communities. An ideal applicant is great with social media, an excellent communicator, and is interested in using technology to mobilize underrepresented communities and provide them the essential resources to thrive.

What is Dear Future Colleague?

DFC is Leadership Brainery’s online platform connecting extraordinary underrepresented talent, postgraduate recruiters, and employers from around the nation. The web and app-based platform provides access to exclusive groups, professional resources and tools, and talent sourcing opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the administrative team to develop and execute strategies to increase user engagement

  • Conduct outreach by researching organizations that align with our audience, compiling information, and utilizing a Customer Relationship Management software for email marketing

  • Assist in the growth of the Dear Future Colleague user-base through existing social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)

  • Research internship, scholarship, and event opportunities that are essential to academic success

  • Develop engaging and empowering content that educates users about leadership development, educational equity, and postgraduate schools

  • Actively engage with our Dear Future Colleague users by communicating, answering questions, and connecting them to mentors

  • Learn about Leadership Brainery Postgraduate Members to educate users on who they should connect with for particular degree programs

  • Create and conduct surveys to collect qualitative and quantitative data on user experiences and outcomes

Baseline Requirements

  • Currently pursing or have a graduate degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, computer sciences, or a related field

  • A strong passion for social innovation and an interest in working at a start-up non-profit

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member

  • Comfortable learning about new technologies and troubleshooting

  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills

  • Acute attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and sensitivity to timelines

  • Great ability to use Canva and other graphic design platform to create quality content

Time and Benefits

Minimum 15 hours a week/$4,000 Stipend
