Dear Future Colleague FAQ
- 01
DFC is an online platform and mobile app connecting prospective graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to mentorship, postgraduate school representatives, workforce opportunities & competitive scholarship resources.
- 02
DFC is a platform for underrepresented talent seeking or enrolled in graduate school. Our talent consists of both undergraduate students and working professionals. Our criteria for underrepresented include: Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, LGBTQ+, low-income, or first-generation. If these criteria do not apply to you but you feel as though you are a part of an underrepresented community within higher education and should be permitted to join DFC, please contact DFC Support at dfc@leadershipbrainery.org. If you are signing up as a mentor, company representative, or graduate school representative, you do not need to fit our criteria of underrepresented in order to sign up.
- 03
Visit Dear Future Colleague and click “Create Your Profile.” You can either sign up through LinkedIn or with an email address. Please fill out the registration questions as comprehensively as possible. If you would like to become a mentee or a mentor, please click the "Mentorship" widget on the right of the page and fill out an application.
- 04
You will receive an approval email within one week of applying to join DFC. If you have not heard within one week, check your spam folder or reach out to DFC Support at dfc@leadershipbrainery.org.

If these criteria do not apply to you but you feel as though you are a part of an underrepresented community within higher education and should be permitted to join DFC, please contact DFC Support at dfc@leadershipbrainery.org.

DFC is a great place to gain exposure and build community. Posting on the feed creates opportunities for engagement. Feel free to post articles about social and workforce diversity, postgraduate education, information about yourself and why you’re on DFC, career and school updates, events that the DFC community would be interested in, or requests for support or advice on the graduate school application process.

Activity on DFC is monitored by Leadership Brainery staff. We will take action if we see someone violating the guidelines. Sometimes that means giving a warning; other times, it means revoking certain privileges or accounts entirely. These acts will result in immediate dismissal and permanent removal. We request that all community members report behavior that violates our guidelines to DFC Support at dfc@leadershipbrainery.org.

This is most likely occurring because you’re trying to sign in with an email address but you made your DFC profile with your LinkedIn account. If you made your DFC profile with your LinkedIn account, you have to sign in with LinkedIn each time. It is also possible that the password reset email was sent to your spam folder. If you are still having trouble signing in, contact DFC Support at dfc@leadershipbrainery.org.
